The oak was sourced from Llandrindod Wells, from a tree felled near the couple’s wedding ceremony site,160 years old at the time. The timber was carefully air-dried for 14 months, with warm weather helping to speed up the drying process considerably.
Natural splits and character in the wood have been filled with sleek black resin, highlighting rather than hiding its age and beauty. The outer bark was removed and edges sanded smooth to keep an organic, flowing shape—letting the wood’s natural colour and grain shine through.
As a final personal touch, the exact coordinates of their wedding ceremony were engraved, making this piece truly one-of-a-kind and irreplaceable to them. Finished with five coats of hard-wax oil and polished to a soft, sealed glow, it’s both durable and tactile.
