The client wanted a truly remarkable board, and when I say “big,” I mean this stunning piece of London Plane is just under a meter long, showcasing the natural beauty of the wood. With its two exquisite organic live edges, this board captures the essence of nature’s artistry, emphasising the unique character that London Plane wood is renowned for. The way the grain flows throughout the piece creates a captivating visual experience, turning a functional item into a work of art.
London Plane wood is not only visually appealing but also prized for its durability and workability. Each board has its own story, reflected in the intricate grain patterns and warm hues that make each creation unique. As a woodworker, it’s always rewarding to work with materials that have such distinct qualities, and this piece was no exception.
To add a personal touch, the client’s logo was carefully hand-engraved into the top corner. The engraving was intricately detailed and infused with black resin, creating a striking contrast that makes the logo stand out beautifully. Achieving the perfect balance of depth and clarity in the engraving required patience and precision, but the results were well worth the effort. This detail not only personalises the board but also enhances its overall aesthetic, making it a truly special piece.
Understanding the practical aspects of a BBQ board, we also incorporated a juice groove into the design. After all, you can’t have a BBQ board without a groove to catch those delicious meat juices! This functional element ensures that the board can handle the juiciest cuts while keeping the surface clean and tidy.
This London Plane board is more than just a kitchen accessory; it is a statement piece that reflects the client’s personality and tastes. Whether used for entertaining guests at a barbecue or displayed as a centrepiece, it is sure to draw admiration and become a cherished addition to any home.
In summary, this project highlights the beauty of craftsmanship, the elegance of natural wood, and the importance of personal touches in creating functional art. I’m thrilled with how it turned out and excited to see how the client enjoys this exquisite piece for years to come.
