The client, Andrew, approached me with a request. He wanted to present his partner with an oak board but asked to have the two rtop corners engraved with the Menai Bridge and the Britannia Bridge. Now I am used to engraving names etc but this was a first for bridges. Andrew supplied the pictures and it was over to me for the rest. The oak was a piece of English Oak nicely aged and air dried. The bridges were stencilled onto the wood and then using a hand router I carved out the shapes, cleaned them and fill the lines with black resin. Sanded to 800 grit and finished with mineral oil to show off the wood and stencils.
Andrews partner is so pleased with the board she has banned the use of knives on it……..
